Instructional Coach Tenure-Track Position

Appropriate NJ certification(s) required. Reading Specialist certification preferred.
QUALIFICATIONSThe Instructional Coach reports to the Director of Curriculum. They work in collaboration with Building Administrators and the Superintendent of Schools, as appropriate.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY AND AUTHORITYThe Instructional Coach shall maintain line and staff authority in accordance with the Board of Education approved District Organizational Chart.
JOB GOALThe Instructional Coach, in accordance with Board policy and New Jersey Statute and guided by the Board-approved curriculum and goals as well as the administrative rules of the Superintendent, the Building Principals, and the Directors, is responsible for supporting assigned students.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENTContract consistent with the agreement negotiated with the applicable bargaining unit.
PERSONAL EVALUATIONThe Instructional Coach shall be evaluated in writing in line with state requirements and Board of Education policy and regulation by any of the following or combination of the following:
Building Administrator(s), Director(s), and/or the Superintendent, at least twice a year if tenured and at least three times a year if non-tenured. The evaluation shall be based in part on the performance of the responsibilities indicated in this position description.
General Responsibilities
- Visits classrooms regularly to observe, model, provide feedback, and make recommendations about appropriate strategies, classroom modifications, and the selection of adaptive materials to address the learning needs of students.
- Provides instructional coaching, including mentoring and feedback, to classroom teachers and instructional support staff.
- Facilitates coaching cycles, including model lessons, co-teaching, classroom observation, and feedback. Documents each stage of work.
- Supports implementation of district curriculum and evidence-based instructional practices.
- Supports students and staff in Tiers 1, 2, and 3 instruction and measures the programs' effectiveness.
- Participates as a member of the Data Team.
- Utilizes multiple data sources to help identify student needs and monitor progress.
- Supports staff in interpreting assessment data, assisting them as they use the data to inform instruction and intervention decisions.
- Develops criteria for identifying students in need of literacy intervention.
- Designs and coordinates intervention groups and schedules.
- Coordinates universal literacy screenings throughout the district.
- Serves as a member of the Intervention and Referral Services (I&RS) Team for both buildings, collaborating with staff to develop and implement targeted student support plans.
- Provides instructional coaching, including mentoring and feedback, to classroom teachers and instructional support staff.
Interaction with Students, Parents, School and Community
- Maintains an ongoing relationship with families for the purpose of sharing information regarding educational planning and programming for students.
