Position Summary
A Sophomore Seminar Teacher for the 2026‑2027 school year at The Pingry School, responsible for teaching four sections each semester of the interdisciplinary "Sophomore Seminar" course, collaborating with a teaching team, and engaging students in practical life skills and ethical frameworks.

- Master of variety—comfortably teaches Personal Finance, Digital Literacy, and Ethical Philosophy.
- Practical facilitator—prioritizes real‑world application of budgeting, AI literacy, and related skills.
- Relational mentor—coaches students through research and capstone projects.
- Instruction: teach four sections each semester following the established pacing guide and learning objectives.
- Subjects:
- Financial Literacy: budgeting, debt management, taxes, investing.
- Ethics & Digital Citizenship: utilitarianism, deontology applied to real‑world dilemmas.
- AI & Information Literacy: evaluating digital sources, generative AI, bias recognition.
- Data & Computational Thinking: internet architecture, cybersecurity, algorithmic logic.
- Research & Capstone Mentorship: interdisciplinary research methods and guidance on semester‑long projects.
- Advising: serve as an advisor to a group of students, supporting academic, social, and emotional development.
- Community contribution: fulfill the "plus one" requirement, such as coaching, club leadership, or community service.
- Spring intensive: collaborate cross‑departmentally on the development and execution of a dedicated Spring Intensive course.
- Educational background:
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Finance, Philosophy, Technology, or Interdisciplinary Studies (advanced degree preferred). - Intellectual versatility: pivot between teaching personal finance, ethical theory, and digital literacy with enthusiasm.
- Inclusive excellence: commitment to cultivating belonging and designing inclusive classrooms.
- Community mindset: collaborate with the Seminar team and broader faculty.
- Tech literacy: proficiency in Google Suite and interest in ethical use of generative AI.
- Adaptability: work within a new program and provide constructive feedback to refine the course.
Salary range: $60,000 – $110,000; final compensation determined by experience and education.
