Position Summary

Far Hills Country Day School seeks a compassionate, collaborative, and experienced 1:1 Instructional Aide to support a Lower School student in the classroom with academic tasks. The ideal candidate will work closely with the homeroom teacher, learning support team, and families to help foster the student's academic and social growth while supporting full participation in the school community.

Primary Responsibilities

Provide individualized academic and social‑emotional support to a Lower School student throughout the school day

• Collaborate closely with the homeroom teacher and learning support faculty to implement classroom accommodations, instructional strategies, and behavior support plans
• Assist the student in maintaining engagement, organization, and participation during classroom instruction and transitions
• Support the development of independence, self‑regulation, and positive peer interactions
• Monitor and document student progress, observations, and behavioral data as requested
• Reinforce classroom expectations, routines, and school values in a consistent and supportive manner
• Participate in team meetings and communicate effectively with faculty and administrators regarding student progress and needs
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all aspects of the role

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree preferred

• Previous experience working with elementary‑aged students in a school or therapeutic setting is required
• Experience supporting students with learning or developmental needs strongly preferred
• Ability to work collaboratively and flexibly as part of a classroom team
• Strong communication, patience, and organizational skills
• Demonstrated ability to build supportive and respectful relationships with students and colleagues
• ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) therapy certification or related training preferred
• Understanding of child development and positive behavior support strategies preferred

Compensation

Hourly rate $24‑$28 per hour, based on experience
