Position Overview

Social Studies Teacher – Leave Replacement Position David Brearley High School Anticipated position for the  school year.

• Valid NJDOE Social Studies certification required.
• Demonstrated knowledge of effective instructional practices, student supports, curriculum, assessment, and classroom management.
• Ability to develop and implement appropriate lesson plans, programs, services, and supports aligned with student needs and applicable standards.
• Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, families, administration, and related service providers.
• Strong communication, organization, problem‑solving, and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of special education procedures, IEP implementation, student intervention supports, and/or related services preferred, as applicable to the position.
• Ability to work effectively with students, staff, families, administration, and the school community.
• Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
• Must meet NJ Residency requirements as per the New Jersey First Act, N.J.S.A. 52:14‑7 (L. 2011, Chapter 70).

Kenilworth Board of Education's substitute teaching long‑term rates.

Long‑term substitute rates and benefits:

• Per Day – $125 per day (not eligible for comprehensive benefits).
• Long‑term subsidy less than 6 months – $250 per day (not eligible for comprehensive benefits).
• Long‑term subsidy 6 months or longer – $345 per day (not eligible for comprehensive benefits).
• Long‑term, full school year assignment – Step 1 BA; benefits begin the first of the month after 30 days of service (no additional stipends for extracurricular activities, coaching, or tuition reimbursement).

In accordance with N.J.S.A. 18A:16‑1:1, time accrued in a leave replacement position does not count towards tenure.
