- Meets one of the following expectations:
Passed the Para Pro test, holds an Associate’s Degree, has 60 college credits, a substitute certification, or is a Registered Behavior Technician. - Valid U.S. Driver’s License and/or State .
- Demonstrates skill in both written and oral communications and human relations.
- Successfully completes required criminal history check and has proof of U.S. Citizenship or legal resident alien status.
- Demonstrates aptitude for the work to be performed.
- Proper background, character, disposition, and temperament to work with and/or around children.
Reports to: Classroom Teacher/BCBA/Building Principal and/or designated administrator
Job ExpectationUnder the direction and supervision of the certified classroom teacher, principal or other designated certified personnel, assists faculty members in the instruction of students and in facilitating students' learning activities so that they attain the established curriculum goals adopted by the Mullica Township Board of Education.
Performance Responsibilities- Instruction
- Assist the classroom teacher in the delivery of an effective instructional program.
- Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce the learning of information or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
- Assist teachers and/or students in the participation of small group instruction, exploratory learning, and independent work, providing intervention and support as needed or required.
- Operate and care for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes.
- Help students master equipment or instructional materials assigned by the classroom teacher.
- Instructional Management
- Assist the teacher in designing strategies to reinforce knowledge or skills which meet the individual needs of students.
- Assist the teacher in maintaining an inventory, organizing educational materials, preparing instructional documents, and other activities which facilitate the educational program.
- Process student paperwork in accordance with directions of the teacher.
- Assist the teacher in organizing the classroom for instruction.
- Student Management
- Support the teacher in maintaining a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the needs and interests of the students.
- Maintain student conduct situations assigned by the principal in accordance with the contractual agreement.
- Maintain data collection, support behavior plans, and the carryover of skills from related services opportunities.
- Support students in the areas of personal hygiene, including toileting, and the like.
- Professional Development
- Strive to maintain and enhance professional competence through professional reading as well as participation in workshops, conferences and appropriate staff development programs in accordance with district guidelines.
- Attend staff meetings as required by contract.
- Openly receive feedback and work to apply the feedback in an ongoing, professional manner.

- Cooperate and share professionally with other members of the staff.
- Maintain confidentiality about students in accordance with state and federal law as well as district policy.
- Attend work regularly, be punctual, and conscientious of returning from breaks in a timely manner.

- Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as assigned by administration.
Ten month employee. Salaries, benefits, leave time, and conditions specified in the negotiated agreement between the Mullica Township Board of Education and the Mullica Township Education Association.
