Job Title: ERI Special Education Teacher – Middle School (formerly known as Behavioral Disabilities)
QualificationsSpecial Education Certification required.
Holds or is eligible for a New Jersey Instructional Certificate with appropriate endorsement (i.e.:
Elementary K‑5 with Math/Language Arts Literacy/Science/Social Studies Specialization in grades 5‑8;
Teacher of Mathematics/Language Arts Literacy/Science/Social Studies; Teacher of Students with Disabilities or Teacher of the Handicapped).

Job GoalTo lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation.
Performance Responsibilities- Demonstrates competence in subject field(s) assigned and deemed highly qualified per standards established by NJDOE.
- Provides activities and experiences to meet the needs, interests and abilities of students.
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
- Employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
- Assesses the academic and behavioral status of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
- Participates in identifying and meeting pupil needs in cooperation with other professional staff members.
- Establishes and maintains, with the support of administrators, standards of pupil behavior appropriate to the activity.
- Maintains professional competence through participation in inservice education activities provided by the district and/or self-selected professional growth activities.
- Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
- Prepares for classes assigned and develops general lesson plans related to established curriculum goals.
- Takes reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
- Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations.
- Makes a reasonable effort to cooperate professionally with other members of the staff.
- Assists in the selection of books, equipment and other instructional materials.
- Satisfactorily fulfills duty assignments during the course of the school day as assigned.
- Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
- Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with others.
- Participates in professional growth through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced course work at institutions of higher learning.
- Performs such other tasks as may be from time to time assigned by the Principal or his/her Assistants within the scope of his/her employment and/or certification areas.
($64,290‑$109,356 per year. Final compensation will be based on experience and qualifications.)
