Sociology/Criminal Justice Part-Time Teaching Fall 2026
Position Summary:
The School of Arts and Sciences, Department of Sociology seeks experienced instructors to teach undergraduate criminal justice courses. The instructor will prepare syllabi, deliver lectures, lead discussions, assess student work, hold office hours, respond to emails, and submit final grades. In‑person teaching is required.
The minimum salary is $2,777 per credit (minimum $8,331 for a 3‑credit course). Compensation may be adjusted based on qualifications, experience, and departmental or grant funds. Responsibilities- Prepare and deliver course syllabi and lecture materials.
- Conduct in‑person instruction and facilitate classroom discussions.
- Assess student performance and provide timely feedback.
- Hold weekly office hours and respond to student emails.
- Submit final course grades to the registrar.
- Collaborate with the department on course planning and curriculum development.
- Master’s degree in Sociology or a related field required;
Ph.D. preferred. - Previous teaching experience strongly preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness.
- Responsiveness to institutional deadlines and ability to teach a variety of criminal justice courses.
- Physical ability to teach in a classroom setting.
