English Teacher-Leave Replacement Position Qualifications

Valid NJDOE English Teacher certification required.

Demonstrated knowledge of effective instructional practices, student supports, curriculum, assessment, and classroom management.

Ability to develop and implement appropriate lesson plans, programs, services, and supports aligned with student needs and applicable standards.

Collaborative skills working with students, staff, families, administration, and related service providers.

Strong communication, organization, problem‑solving, and interpersonal skills.

Knowledge of special education procedures, IEP implementation, student intervention supports, and/or related services preferred, as applicable.

Effective teamwork with the school community.

Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.

Must meet NJ residency requirements per New Jersey First Act, N.J.S.A. 52:14‑7.

Terms of Employment

Kenilworth Board of Education substitute teaching long‑term rates and benefits:
The employee is not eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid sick and personal leave accruals (per collective bargaining agreement), and enrollment in the New Jersey Teachers’ Pension and Annuity Fund (TPAF) or the Public Employees’ Retirement System.

Benefits

Long‑term substitute positions are paid at the designated rate for the term of assignment. The first payment is made the month following 30 days of service. The position does not qualify for additional compensation in the form of stipends for extracurricular activities, coaching, or tuition reimbursement. Time accrued in a leave‑replacement position does not count toward tenure.
