Qualifications

Valid NJDOE as a Speech-Language Specialist or other appropriate NJDOE certification required.

Demonstrated knowledge of effective instructional practices, student supports, curriculum, assessment, and classroom management.

Ability to develop and implement appropriate lesson plans, programs, services, and supports aligned with student needs and applicable standards.

Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, families, administration, and related service providers.

Strong communication, organization, problem‑solving, and interpersonal skills.

Knowledge of special education procedures, IEP implementation, student intervention supports, and/or related services preferred, as applicable to the position.

Ability to work effectively with students, staff, families, administration, and the school community.

Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.

Must meet NJ Residency requirements as per the New Jersey First Act, N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L. 2011, Chapter 70).

Terms of Employment

Kenilworth Board of Education's substitute teaching long‑term rates and benefits:

Type of Sub

Long‑term sub less than 6 months

Long‑term sub 6 months or longer

Long‑term, full school year assignment

Step 1 BA

Benefits payable the first of the month after 30 days of service.

The position is not eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision insurance, paid sick and personal leave accruals pursuant to the collective bargaining agreement, and enrollment in the New Jersey Teachers' Pension and Annuity Fund (TPAF) or the Public Employees' Retirement System.

Health:
The position is not eligible for additional compensation in the form of stipends for extracurricular activities, coaching, or tuition reimbursement based on district policy.

In accordance with N.J.S.A. 18A:16-1:1, time accrued in a leave replacement position does not count towards tenure.
