Science Teacher- Chemistry​/Biology

Science Teacher Full-Time Position

Notre Dame High School is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Chemistry and/or Biology teacher. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Chemistry and/or Biology to students, developing lesson plans, assessing student progress, and maintaining an engaging and positive classroom environment.

Applicant Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Biology or Chemistry or related field from accredited university; valid teacher certificate preferred.
• Proven experience teaching Biology and/or Chemistry at the high school level.
• Demonstrate general knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
• Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Notre Dame High School.
• Maintain an organized and positive classroom environment that fosters learning and engagement.
• Demonstrated flexibility to cope with the challenges of a rapidly changing world.

Class Format:

At Notre Dame High School, each student is known, and the results of student progress are carefully monitored. Because Notre Dame employs a modified block scheduling model, the school year mirrors academic years at college with classes running by semester rather than by whole year.

Teacher Responsibilities:

• Implement curricula and activities to meet academic standards.
• Design and implement assessments that measure progress towards academic standards.
• Use assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices.
• Participate in collaborative curriculum development, grade-level activities, and school-wide functions.
• Provide consistent rewards and/or consequences for student behavior.
• Be accountable for students' mastery of academic standards.
• Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
• Participate in annual compliance training.
• Participate in science department and full faculty meetings and in-service days.
