District Instructional Coach

The Black Horse Pike Regional School District has an opening for a District Instructional Coach for the  school year. Instructional Coaches, having both content and instructional expertise, will work as a colleague with classroom teachers to support student learning and teacher practice. The instructional coach will assist District Supervisors to facilitate the best instructional practices of teaching and learning in the classroom and will assist the supervisors to use assessment data to improve teaching and learning and meet district and curricular goals.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provides standards-based training to teachers in the core curriculum standards in which the coach is certified.
  • Assists teachers with implementing instructional strategies and best practices in planning, instructional delivery, assessment, and classroom environment (new, non-tenured, and tenured teachers) in all content areas.
  • Plan, facilitate and organize professional development both school wide and by department (including PLCs and PD sessions organized by supervisors).
  • Provides training after school in the form of short workshops.
  • Visits individual classrooms and models lessons.
  • Consistently supports teacher practice through ongoing classroom observations, data analysis and examination of student work.
  • Assists teachers with planning instruction that aligns with NJSLS, as well as district and department goals.
  • Creates learning resources to support teachers in their implementation of curriculum.
  • Assists Title 1 Coordinators with Back to School Night presentations.
  • Assists supervisors with organizing any testing preparation materials and the implementation of standardized tests.
  • Assists supervisors with organizing any other curriculum tasks.
  • Assist teachers and/or supervisors with developing assessments, analyzing data, and evaluating curriculum.
  • Supports district efforts to achieve educational equity when working with teachers and/or supervisors.
  • Coordinates peer-to-peer observations as needed, including the arrangement of class coverages.
  • May serve as a consultant to building-based PD or ScIP groups, but will not serve as a full- time committee member for any one building-based team.
  • Collaborates with supervisors to support the implementation of corrective action plans.
  • Collaborates with teachers to support their use of technology in delivery of curricula through a variety of instructional methods, integrating resources in support of student learning and assisting teachers in meeting state and national standards for subject-area and technology learning objectives.
  • Performs onboarding responsibilities for newly hired teachers (in the summer and throughout the year), including support for navigating instructional technology (Go Guardian, Smart board tools, content-area software platforms); for managing Google Drive and Google Suite tools; and for using district programs (Genesis gradebook and lesson planner).
  • Provides guidance and informal mentorship to new teachers across the district throughout the year.
  • Actively promotes the instructional coach role by communicating available supports and services to teachers, supervisors, and district leaders to build collaborative partnerships and increase engagement.

Salary based on education and experience on the BHPEA Salary Guide - $60,500 - $102,350. This position includes the following:
