Teacher of English - Leave Replacement

Full-Year Leave Replacement Teacher of English Verona High School 2026–2027 School Year

Verona Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Full-Year Leave Replacement Teacher of English at Verona High School for the 2026–2027 school year.

The successful candidate will provide engaging, standards-based instruction aligned to the New Jersey Student Learning Standards, the Board-approved curriculum, and district goals. The teacher will be responsible for creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports student learning, personal growth, critical thinking, communication, and a strong foundation in English Language Arts.

• Valid New Jersey Instructional Certificate in English (1410) or Certificate of Eligibility
• Demonstrated knowledge of English Language Arts content and effective instructional practices
• Ability to develop rigorous learning targets, plan standards-based lessons, and use assessment data to inform instruction
• Ability to support the needs of diverse learners through appropriate accommodations and instructional adaptations
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
• Commitment to collaboration, professional growth, and positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
• Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status

• Planning and implementing engaging English Language Arts lessons aligned to the NJSLS and district curriculum
• Monitoring student progress and using formative and summative assessments to guide instruction
• Creating a classroom environment that supports all learners
• Communicating with families regarding student progress
• Collaborating with colleagues to support student achievement and school goals
• Participating in faculty meetings, school-level planning, and other professional responsibilities as assigned
