Location: Saddle River

Saddle River Day School, a close community of learners, is looking for a full-time World Language Teacher to join our Middle School team in the fall of 2026. This position involves teaching Middle School classes (which may include students from grades 6-9) and serving as an advisor.

Our mission includes developing caring, ethical contributors to society. Our teachers strive to provide students with opportunities to explore material, engage deeply with content, and apply learned skills in meaningful ways. Our teachers play a key role in curriculum design and work collaboratively with one another across departments to prepare a course of instruction that meets the social, emotional, and academic needs of each individual learner.

We are seeking a team member who possesses a growth mindset and who can form strong relationships with students, colleagues, and families based on positivity and collegiality.

Responsibilities
  • Teach five sections of Spanish classes (or related world language classes)
  • Serve as an advisor to a group of students, providing guidance and support in their academic and personal development
  • Demonstrate a passion for teaching, fostering student growth, and exploring world cultures
  • Manage the classroom effectively, establish a positive learning environment, and maintain accurate records of student progress
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop innovative curricula and interdisciplinary learning opportunities
  • Communicate effectively with families to support student success
  • Foster a student-centered environment that encourages intellectual risk-taking and innovation
  • Integrate technology and current educational trends into classroom practices
  • Participate actively in the life of the school community beyond the classroom, including contributing to extracurricular programs, events, and committees
Qualifications
  • Speak and write Spanish fluently (additional proficiency in French, preferred)
  • Bachelor's degree in Spanish, Education, or a related field require (advanced degree preferred)
  • Experience teaching Middle School level world language courses preferred (other relevant experiences will be considered)
Compensation and Benefits
  • Salary Range: $60,000 to $85,000 (final compensation will be determined based on experience and education)
