Location: Basking Ridge
Special Education Teacher
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education teacher to join our team at Ridge High School for a temporary leave replacement from September 1, 2026, to November 8, 2026. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing individualized support and instruction to students with diverse learning needs, ensuring they have access to a meaningful and inclusive educational experience. This position requires a strong commitment to fostering a positive learning environment and collaborating with staff, parents, and the community.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of each student.
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with disabilities in both general and special education settings.
- Monitor and assess student progress, making necessary adjustments to instructional strategies and IEPs as needed.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and support staff to create an inclusive classroom environment.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and any concerns.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance and progress.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to the development of IEPs.
- Provide training and support to general education teachers on best practices for including students with disabilities.
- Uphold all school policies and procedures, ensuring a safe and respectful learning environment for all students.
Requirements:
- Valid state certification in Special Education.
- Experience working with students with diverse learning needs, preferably in a high school setting.
- Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of current best practices in special education and inclusive teaching strategies.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
