School Counselor Position
Cedar Hill Elementary School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Counselor for a full-time leave replacement position from August 25, 2026, to January 31, 2027. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering a positive and supportive school environment for students, staff, and families. This role involves providing counseling services, facilitating social-emotional learning, and collaborating with educators and parents to promote student success.
Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group counseling to students to address academic, social, and emotional challenges.
- Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify student needs and develop appropriate intervention strategies.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to implement programs that support student development and well-being.
- Facilitate conflict resolution and mediation among students to promote a positive school climate.
- Organize and lead workshops and presentations on topics such as social skills, bullying prevention, and mental health awareness.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions and progress.
- Serve as a resource for parents and guardians, providing guidance on student development and available support services.
- Participate in school-wide initiatives and committees to enhance the overall educational experience for students.
- Stay updated on best practices in school counseling and participate in professional development opportunities.
- Master's degree in School Counseling or a related field.
- Valid state certification or licensure as a School Counselor.
- Previous experience working with elementary school-aged children preferred.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and staff.
- Knowledge of social-emotional learning frameworks and counseling techniques.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive school environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in counseling.
