Physical Education Teacher

Mount Prospect Elementary School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Physical Education teacher for a full-time, tenure-track position. The ideal candidate will foster a positive and engaging learning environment that promotes physical fitness, teamwork, and a lifelong appreciation for health and wellness among students. The successful applicant will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive physical education curriculum that meets the diverse needs of our student population.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver engaging physical education lessons that align with state and national standards.
• Assess and evaluate student performance, providing constructive feedback to promote growth and improvement.
• Create a safe and inclusive environment that encourages students of all abilities to participate and excel.
• Collaborate with other educators to integrate physical education with other subject areas and school-wide initiatives.
• Organize and supervise extracurricular activities, including sports teams and fitness clubs.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and engage them in promoting physical activity at home.
• Stay current with best practices in physical education and participate in professional development opportunities.
• Maintain equipment and facilities, ensuring they are safe and accessible for all students.
• Promote a culture of respect, teamwork, and sportsmanship among students.
• Contribute to the overall school community through participation in staff meetings, committees, and events.

Requirements:

• Valid state teaching certification in Physical Education.
• Proven experience in teaching physical education at the elementary level.
• Strong knowledge of physical education curriculum and instructional strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and the community.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• A passion for promoting health, fitness, and wellness among children.
• First Aid and CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
