Qualifications:
NJ School Counselor or NJ School Social Worker Certification Ability to facilitate social skills and mindfulness groups Support students with mediation of conflicts, building confidence and interpersonal skills Ability to teach whole group lessons on friendship, character and positive interactions Knowledge and experience with NJ Core Curriculum Strong interpersonal, written, and communication skills Support students during lunch and recess Extra duties as assigned by the building Principal This position is for the 2026-27 school year only and is dependent on the receipt of Title I funding All alternate route candidates ("Certificate of Eligibility) must show completion of 50 hours of pre-service training through a DOE approved CE educator program prior to being interviewed for a position.
The certificate of completion must be uploaded into the Appli Track portal in order for alternate route candidates to be considered. Further information about the alternate route program can be obtained /education/certification/CEprogramproviders.shtml In accordance with S-414/A-3188, school districts, charter schools, nonpublic schools, and contracted service providers ("employers") are required to review the last twenty years of employment history of prospective employees to ascertain allegations of child abuse or sexual misconduct.
It explicitly prohibits such employers from hiring a person serving in a position which involves regular contact with students unless the employer conducts a review of the employment history of the applicant by contacting former and current employers and requesting information regarding child abuse and sexual misconduct allegations.
