TITLE:PRESCHOOL INSTRUCTIONAL COACH (formerly Master Teacher) LENGTH: 10 MONTH POSITION CONTINOUS THROUGH JUNE 30th REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preschool through grade three standard instructional certificate; or Standard elementary school instructional certificate and the equivalent of two academic years of full-time experience teaching three and four-year old students under the certificate in a position that would require the preschool through grade three endorsement: or Standard New Jersey nursery school instructional certificate; or Preschool through grade three endorsement in addition to another standard instructional certificate, except as indicated at N.J.A.C. 6A:9-11.2 and 11.7.

JOB GOALS
The Preschool Instructional Coach provides in-classroom support to help preschool teachers improve their classroom practice. Assumes professional responsibility for providing learning experiences of young students in a supportive and positive classroom climate in the early childhood program that develops in each child the skills, attitudes, the knowledge to provide a good foundation for continued education, following the approved curricula and directives of the school.
In addition, the Preschool Instructional Coach shall strive to ensure that the preschool teachers are meeting the highly effective criteria for the preparation of lesson plans, the use of data to drive instruction, the delivering of quality instruction, addressing the needs of diverse learners through differentiation, classroom environment, leadership, and professionalism. Preschool Instructional Coach must work collaboratively with all members of school staff.
PERFORMANCE
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Establish high standards and expectations for young children for academic performance and responsibility for behavior.2. Display the highest ethical and professional behavior and standards when working with students, parents, school personnel, and other agencies associated with the school.3. Promotes active learning using structured and unstructured activities that foster the social, physical, cognitive, and emotional developments of young children.4. Plan and implement sequential age appropriate learning experiences. The learning experiences shall follow and use the approved curricula and instructional materials.5. Develop, facilitate, and present staff development instruction.6. Manage program operational needs in the classrooms.7. Accept special assignments as deemed necessary by Administration.8. Maintain weekly activity log.9. Coordinate with direct service staff such as Social Worker.10. Establish high standards and expectation for all students for academic performance and responsibility for behavior.11. Plan and implement instruction to ensure that early childhood education students exceed the New Jersey Preschool Teaching and Learning Standards in all areas.12. Demonstrate how to engage the learners in differentiated learning experiences for the range of skills and developmental needs found in the classroom and doing multiple activities simultaneously.13. Assist in providing and effectively organize a variety of materials, equipment, media, and community resources to support the instructional program, using school-approved procedures.14. Model how to monitor the pacing of instruction and budget class time efficiently by providing clear directions, outlining expectations, and effectively bringing to closure instructional experiences.15. Teach effective presentation skills when employing direct instruction, including appropriate vocabulary and examples, clear and legible visuals, and articulate and audible speech.16. Use excellent written and oral English when communicating with students, parents and colleagues.17. Provide instruction to teachers on how to establish a nurturing, supportive, and positive classroom climate that encourages student responsibility, using positive motivation, clear classroom routines, challenging instructional strategies, and effective classroom management techniques.18. Communicate regularly with teachers, seeking their support and advice, so as to create a cooperative relationship to support the children.19. Teach how to assess and diagnose the learning, social, and emotional needs and styles of students, using a variety of assessment techniques and data.20. Plan and adjust the learning experiences, accordingly, requesting advice and assistance from specialists when appropriate. Employ a variety of methods for students to demonstrate learning and accomplishments.21. Work cooperatively with the Preschool staff in the classrooms, establishing clear expectations for roles and responsibilities.
