Career Advancement Program Coordinator

The Career Advancement Program (CAP) Coordinator supports the Director of the Career Advancement Program in the development, implementation, and growth of career exploration, workforce readiness, mentoring, internship, and postsecondary pathway initiatives for high school and college students. The CAP Coordinator serves as a key liaison between students, families, schools, mentors, employers, higher education partners, and community organizations to ensure students have access to meaningful STEM career experiences and opportunities.

The CAP Coordinator helps manage internship recruitment and placement activities, mentoring programs, career readiness initiatives, workplace visits, and educational events while fostering relationships with corporate, nonprofit, and higher education partners that support student success. Responsibilities align with CAP's mission of helping students explore, prepare for, and transition into STEM education and career pathways.

Essential functions

  • Assist with the planning, implementation, and evaluation of Career Advancement Program activities and initiatives.
  • Support student recruitment, enrollment, participation tracking, and ongoing engagement across CAP programs.
  • Guide students through career exploration, workforce readiness, internship preparation, and post-secondary planning activities.
  • Maintain accurate student records, program data, reports, and outcome documentation.
  • Coordinate communications with students, families, schools, and community partners.

Internship and Work-Based Learning Programs

  • Support the recruitment, screening, placement, and monitoring of high school and college interns.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with internship hosts, hiring managers, and employer partners.
  • Coordinate internship orientations, professional development sessions, worksite visits, and evaluations.
  • Assist students in developing workplace readiness skills, including professional communication, networking, and career planning.
  • Maintain a database of internship sites, post-internship placement, employer contacts, and career opportunities.

Mentoring and Career Pathway Development

  • Support the administration of corporate mentoring programs, including participant recruitment, matching, onboarding, and ongoing engagement.
  • Help coordinate career panels, job shadowing experiences, workplace tours, and networking opportunities.
  • Research workforce trends, educational pathways, certification programs, and STEM career opportunities to inform program development.
  • Assist in creating resources and programming that help students explore educational and career pathways.

Partnership and Employer Engagement

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with corporate, higher education, nonprofit, and community partners.
  • Assist with securing speakers, mentors, internship hosts, workplace tour opportunities, and career event participants.
  • Represent S2S at community events, career fairs, education fairs, and partner meetings.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure successful program delivery and participant experiences.

Program Operations and Reporting

  • Monitor program participation, outcomes, and performance metrics.
  • Assist with grant reporting, impact reporting, and data collection activities.
  • Prepare presentations, correspondence, program materials, and informational resources.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts to strengthen CAP programming and participant outcomes.
