August 26, 2026 Salary Range: $16,000 to $22,000 HHEA ESP Contract

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Assists in the supervision of classroom activities under the direction and supervision of the certified classroom teacher, supervisor, or other designated certified personnel.

MAJOR

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assists the teacher in the delivery of an effective instructional program to help students meet educational, academic, life skill, behavioral, physical, social, and emotional goals
• Assists the teacher with students to enable learning with minimal disruptions to other students
• Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills introduced by the teacher
• Operates and cares for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes
• Helps students master equipment or instructional materials assigned by the teacher
• Distributes and collects workbooks, papers, and other materials for instruction
• Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work assigned by the teacher
• Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips
• Assists in and around the school with recess, lunch, and/or bus duty and general assistance in hallways and classrooms
• Checks student work and supervises testing and make-up work as assigned by the teacher
• Attends to physical needs of students, which may include feeding, toileting, diapering, responding to medical emergencies, and handling equipment
• Participates in in-service training as assigned
• Performs other duties which may be within the scope of employment and certifications as may be assigned by the superintendent or designee

Applicants must possess:
New Jersey Teacher Certification, or NJ Substitute Certification, or Para Pro Assessment Score of 456 or higher Proof of New Jersey Residency
