Private Piano Teacher

Blair Academy’s department of performing arts has an immediate opening for a private piano teacher. This position will provide private piano lessons to students during the academic day, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday while school is in session. Candidates must be energetic and enthusiastic team players with a creative mindset. This position reports to the chair of the performing arts department and is paid on a per lesson, non-exempt basis.
Duties & responsibilities:

• Cultivate a positive and encouraging learning atmosphere that promotes creativity and self-expression;
• Provide personalized piano lessons tailored to the specific needs and goals of individual students;
• Guide students in developing fundamental skills and cello techniques;
• Encourage students to perform and share their music, enhancing their confidence and stage presence;
• Adjust teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities;
• Assist students in preparing for performances, auditions and music assessments as needed; and
• Keep detailed records of student progress and maintain clear communication with the supervisor.

Qualifications:

• A degree in piano or equivalent professional experience is required;
• A deep passion for music education;
• Prior teaching experience is preferred but not mandatory;
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
• Punctuality and the ability to effectively manage one's own schedule, ensuring timely arrival for lessons; and
• Flexibility to align with students’ scheduling needs.

Salary & other compensation:
Base pay range $75-$100 per lesson. Salary dependent on numerous factors, including but not limited to education and experience.
