Part-Time Music Tutor
We are seeking a part-time Music Tutor to play a key role in the everyday functioning of the Music Technology Program. Under the direction of the Coordinator of Music, qualified candidates will provide students with the academic and hands-on support needed to pass their courses and earn their credentials/degree. The support is for the following courses:
Music Fundamentals, Music Theory I-III, Functional Class Piano I-III, Ear Training I-III, Introduction to Music Technology, Audio Engineering I-III, Applied Music, and Music Internship. The tutor will also assist the Music Technology Assistant in managing the recording studio, ensemble rooms, practice rooms, and piano labs.
This is a part-time, hourly position.
Examples of Duties:
- Provide practical support to Music Technology students where necessary.
- Assist in the management of the department recording studio, music technology classroom, and other facilities.
- Assists with the maintenance of computer workstations and recording equipment.
- Provide support to other computer users within the Music Faculty.
- Duplicate and prepare multimedia resources.
- Assist with general duties from time to time as required by the Coordinator of Music.
- Assist with activities that extend the capacity of the music department with a degree of flexibility in working hours and outreach work in schools and community centers as required.
- Utilize a variety of instructional delivery methods, including technology, to assist in the delivery of content based on established student learning outcomes.
Qualifications:
- The ideal candidate must have a minimum of four years related and verifiable experience, or an Associate's degree in music, music composition, music technology, or related field.
- A sound knowledge of all aspects of music technology, including audio recording, mixing, and processing.
- Proficiency with Pro Tools is required. Candidate should also be comfortable using other Digital Audio Workstations (e.g., Logic, Cubase, etc.)
- Proficient with Music Notation software (e.g., Sibelius, Finale, etc.).
- Strong interest in musical signal processing and studio techniques.
- Experience in studio maintenance.
Supplemental Information:
- The candidate must be available to work evenings and weekends, and at all College facilities.
The completion of a background check will be required for the selected candidate.
Compensation:
Compensation is determined by a variety of criteria, including but not limited to, previous relevant experience, education level, and certifications. The hourly pay rate for this position is $25.
