Job Description:Raritan Valley Community College has an anticipated opening for aPart-Time Educator in the field of Makeup Artistry forthe Beauty Professions Department inthe Workforce Training Center.
This position will deliver high quality training in hard and soft skills that prepares students for long-term employment success. The instructor will perpetually improve quality of lessons while ensuring the curriculum remains aligned with school partner program (Makeupp Designory), industry and beauty profession department standards. The instructor will assess students' progress per industry-validated standards in an accurate, consistent, and timely manner.
This role will also assist the Program Director with curricular updates and other departmental tasks,attend Beauty Profession department meetings as well as industry and recruitment events as needed.
Essential Functions:
Develop and deliver engaging and high-quality makeup artistry instruction as set forth by Makeup Designory (MUD).
Ensure all graduates have met all competencies at the level deemed appropriate to Raritan Valley Community College standards and industry standards.
Understand and implement necessary classroom management procedures appropriate for High School level students.
Consistently present a professional image as aligned with industry standards.
Adapt teaching style to meet the needs of diverse learners. Ensure proper safety in classroom.
Ensure that all students have clear understanding of program requirements.
Ensure that the students are effectively progressing in their program. Expend additional efforts for lagging students.
Communicate with high schools and Program Director regularly regarding students, schedules, student concerns and student progress.
Develop professional development courses for adult learners in alignment with industry trends and needs.
Ensure academic and attendance records are organized, accurate and current. Maintain any records required by High Schools and state. Gather data as needed in a timely fashion.
Ensure facilities are maintained and willingness to participate in other duties as assigned.
Ability to demonstrate technical concepts with 100% accuracy.
Requirements:Program desires team player who can adapt to change and has a passion for helping students find long-term success through employment.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills required with strong verbal and written skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects, multiple deadlines.
Ability to stay current on changing industry trends. Must attend 15 hours of professional development annually.
Flexibility with schedule to cover evening and weekend hours as necessary.
Understanding of and commitment to the College's mission of service to the community.
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional licensing in Cosmetology or Esthetics.
Experience in the film and television, and /or editorial and fashion industry is a plus.
Experience teaching in a High School setting.
Prior experience as a teacher/trainer.
