Job Description Position Purpose

This position provides specialized hazardous materials (HAZMAT) transportation services to our client at a dedicated off‑site location in the Clinton, NJ area. Responsibilities include SDS review and HAZMAT classification, collecting, marking, labeling, packaging, and segregation of chemicals in preparation for shipping to a new client location; managing transportation logistics and scheduling, manifesting, loading, and sampling/profiling material while adhering to state and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations.

The role may also require spill clean‑up response and remedial activities. The selected candidate may act as team leader and provide training and guidance to less senior employees, and assist in preparing project estimates.

Primary Duties / Responsibilities
  • Assist in the supervision of Environmental Specialists in packing, labeling, manifesting, and loading of hazardous waste items in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Manifesting, packaging, spill clean‑up response and remedial activities, labeling, loading, and coordinating transportation.
  • Maintain a professional image to clients by answering inquiries and suggesting solutions to existing or potential problems.
  • Comply and enforce all compliance, health, safety, and procedures in accordance with Veolia policies.
  • Ensure completion of all paperwork in compliance with U. S. Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). Protection Agency (EPA) regulations and Veolia policies and procedures.
  • Operate and maintain all equipment in a professional manner to ensure optimum efficiency and effectiveness to complete project(s) in a timely manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Education / Experience / Background
  • High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related science discipline preferred.
  • Prior work experience in the hazardous waste/ HAZMAT transportation‑related industry required.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
  • Strong team player.

  • Time management: the ability to organize and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Ability to follow through on assignments.
Required Certification / Licenses / Training
  • 40‑hour HAZWOPER Certification.
  • DOT HAZMAT Certification.
  • Environmental Specialist III Competency Test.
Additional Information
  • Hourly Pay Range:
    Minimum of $28 to a maximum of $35.
