You will contribute to our ongoing projects around modeling distillations and/or solvent recovery processes. The development and deployment of this capability are aimed at increasing our understanding of these unit operations, and to better optimize and control our manufacturing processes. You will be responsible for developing process models, evaluating and comparing commercial and open-source distillation models and supporting the optimization of current processes.
TypicalDay-to-day Activities
- Conduct literature review
- Develop distillation models to simulate plant operations and optimize current manufacturing process
- Development of detailed modeling workflow in both commercial modelling software (i.e. gPROMS) and using open-source libraries
- Summarize the performance of various modelling platforms and make recommendations for specific applications
- Present the conclusions from the models or data analytics to our collaborators.
Education
:
- Enrolled in a doctorate degree in Chemical Engineering, Biological Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences or other related fields required
Experience and Skills
:
- Experience with modeling and programming (e.g., gPROMS, Python, MATLAB, Aspen Plus, or other relevant software)
- Familiarity with distillation unit operations and a background in process systems
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Preferred
:
- Have strong communication skills (written and verbal), including experience presenting in front of multidisciplinary audiences, and attending team meeting in hybrid format
- Experience in computational thermodynamics and optimization techniques

- The anticipated base pay range for this position is : $23.00/hr to $51.50/hr
Pay Transparency
:
The expected pay range for this position is between $23.00 per hour and $51.50 per hour but will be based on candidate s program year, discipline, degree and/or experience. Co-Ops/Interns are eligible to participate in Company sponsored employee medical benefits in accordance with the terms of the plan. Co-Ops and Interns are eligible for the following sick time benefits: up to 40 hours per calendar year;
for employees who reside in the State of Washington, up to 56 hours per calendar year. Co-Ops and Interns are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension).
