Senior Structural Engineer

Overview

RCM Technologies, a multi-disciplinary engineering company located in Oakland, NJ, is seeking Senior Structural Engineers with a minimum of 7 years of experience in the design of structures and/or foundations for industrial and commercial buildings, industrial facilities, electrical substations, electrical generation stations, and miscellaneous structures. This position offers an excellent opportunity for career advancement for a mid-level structural engineer through participation in a team-oriented and interdisciplinary approach to developing innovative engineering solutions for our local, national and international clients.

This position can apply to a Foundation Engineer, or Structural Engineer. While broad experience in both above and below grade design is preferred, expertise in either is acceptable.

• Develop and review design drawings, specifications, and calculations for structural projects.
• Conduct site visits and structural field investigations.
• Prepare structural calculations using Excel and MathCAD.
• Perform finite element analysis (experience with STAAD Pro and RISA 3D preferred).
• Design foundations and/or above-grade structures for industrial and commercial buildings, generation stations and/or substations.
• Collaborate with civil, electrical, and mechanical engineers to deliver projects within budgets and deadlines.
• Willing to sign and seal structural drawings in various states.
• Maintain familiarity with applicable codes and regulations (ASCE-7, AISC, ACI, AWS).
• Proven ability to work independently with minimal guidance and to prioritize in fast-paced environments.
• Communicate effectively in writing and verbally.

• Bachelor of Science (BS) or Master of Science (MS) in Civil Engineering, preferably with an emphasis in Structural Engineering
• Minimum of seven (7) years of foundation and/or above-grade structural steel/concrete design in industrial and commercial settings, generation stations, and/or substation design experience
• Registered Professional Engineer (PE) preferred
• Experience with Concrete and Steel Design (expertise in either is acceptable)
• Experience with Foundation Design, preferably with LPILE, Enercalc
• Ability to develop and review design drawings, specifications, and calculations
• Ability to prepare structural calculations using Excel and MathCAD
• Familiarity with industrial sites, electric generating stations, and/or substations
• Expert understanding of structural engineering codes and regulations including ASCE-7, AISC, ACI, AWS
