Position Summary
As a Senior Geotechnical Design Engineer
, you will play a pivotal role in the technical execution and engineering leadership of geotechnical and deep foundation design initiatives. You will lead the design of foundation systems, ground improvement strategies, and geotechnical analyses in support of construction operations, guiding both internal teams and clients. This role is intended for a seasoned candidate capable of immediately contributing at a high level and progressing toward a Chief Engineer leadership position.
- Lead geotechnical engineering, deep foundation design, and earth retention system solutions for a variety of infrastructure, commercial, and specialty foundation projects.
- Perform advanced subsurface evaluations, utilize geotechnical investigation data, and integrate site soil/rock characteristics into design decisions.
- Produce engineering reports, design calculations, construction drawings, and technical specifications for pile foundations, drilled shafts/caissons, micropiles, helical piles, and related systems.
- Oversee design quality control and ensure engineering solutions meet regulatory, safety, and performance criteria.
- Collaborate with estimating, project management, and construction teams to support bid preparation, value engineering, and constructability reviews.
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact with clients, architects, structural engineers, and regulatory agencies.
- Provide engineering consultation during field operations to resolve onsite geotechnical challenges.
- Mentor junior engineers and technical staff to elevate engineering competencies across the team.
- Contribute to internal standards development, design practices, and engineering procedures.
- Actively engage in strategic planning and take ownership of the engineering discipline as a future Chief Engineer

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in NJ and NY or ability to obtain licensure promptly.
- 10+ years of progressive geotechnical engineering experience with a focus on foundations, deep foundations, or subsurface earth systems.
- Demonstrated ability to lead engineering design on major projects from concept through construction support.
- Strong technical writing, analytical, and communication skills.
- Experience with deep foundation elements including driven piles, drilled shafts/caissons, micropiles, helical piles, and load testing.
- Proficiency with geotechnical design software (e.g., LPile, Geo Studio, Plaxis).
- Experience in contractor-based or construction-oriented engineering environments.
