We are seeking an experienced
** Scientist
* * to work closely with a multidisciplinary team to achieve research objectives. In this role, you will be involved with designing and conducting experiments, analyzing data, and contributing to the development of innovative solutions.
The contaminant modeling focus group at Verdantas provides contaminant modeling capabilities to our internal and external clients. Our group includes groundwater, sediment, surface water, and multi-media contaminant fate and transport modeling experts. We have experience in a wide range of contaminants and chemicals. Our group prides itself on identifying the right model for a given project and communicating results from these models in ways that are easy for our wide range of audiences to understand.
** What You'll Do:
*** Perform computations and process data using computer software or other established methods
* Assist in preparing technical reports to document project findings, conclusions, and recommendations
* Assist in preparing maps and other illustrations for data interpretation and presentation
* Assist in evaluating alternative solutions to science-related problems
* Collect and interpret data through research, file reviews, field observations and measurements, field testing and other methods
** What You'll Bring:
*** Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or Climate Science + Advanced degree preferred
* 5-10 years of experience in environmental remediation
* Experience with contaminant fate and transport modeling in sediment environments, such as CapSIM or SEDCAM
* Experience with chemical mass balance equations associated with river or estuarine systems
* Technical expertise in programming, and/or advanced mathematical concepts (R is preferred)
* Experience in evaluating porewater-sediment dynamics
* Technical expertise in bioaccumulation in fish and humans through exposure to contaminated sediment and/or surface water
* Knowledge of hydrodynamics and sediment transport processes
* Knowledge of sediment remediation technology, specifically sediment capping
** Salary Range:
** At Verdantas, we offer comprehensive benefits packages for our employees. Actual salary is based on the circumstances of each position and candidate, such as geographic location, skills, and certifications. We recognize and reward exceptional performance and strive to ensure fair compensation across all roles and departments within the company. The minimum pay for this position is $30/hr (negotiable based on the criteria presented above).
