About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Process Engineer to join our team at our Swedesboro, NJ bakery. As a Senior Process Engineer, you will lead the development, optimization, and control of bakery manufacturing processes. You will own process parameters, automation readiness, and line performance to ensure safe, consistent, and compliant production while enabling cross functional excellence across operations, quality, maintenance, and controls.
Compensation
- Salary Range: $115,000 - $130,000
Core Accountabilities (What You'll Be Doing)
- Lead development, control, and optimization of bakery processes across mixing, fermentation/proofing, makeup, baking, cooling, slicing, and packaging
- Drive process improvements using statistical tools, DOE, SPC, and structured problem solving to enhance yields, reduce waste, stabilize dough behavior, and improve throughput
- Analyze production data to identify trends, deviations, and improvement opportunities; implement corrective and preventive actions
- Partner with automation and controls teams to support PLC/HMI logic, calibration, environmental control, and data collection systems
- Develop and maintain process documentation, standard operating conditions, and work instructions
- Train operators and technicians on process behavior, control limits, and automation interactions
- Lead process capability studies, equipment validation, and change controls for ingredient, formulation, or automation modifications
Minimum Qualifications (What You Bring to the Table)
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, or chemical engineering
- 5+ years of experience in process improvement or process engineering within manufacturing
- Proficiency with Lean/Six Sigma, SPC, DOE, and structured problem solving methodologies
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency with data analysis tools (Excel, Minitab, Power BI)
- Excellent communication, presentation, and cross functional collaboration abilities
- Strong project management skills and an analytical approach to process optimization
Preferred Qualifications (Extra Ingredients for Success)
- Experience in high volume food or beverage manufacturing
- Experience with highspeed packaging, robotics, or advanced bakery automation
- Familiarity with SQF, BRC, or other GFSI standards
- Lean Six Sigma certification
