Position Summary

TRC Advanced Energy seeks a qualified Project Engineer III to support commercial and industrial energy efficiency and demand management programs in the East Region. The role includes energy analysis, engineering reviews, research, technical writing, energy modeling, energy auditing, and project management across multiple C&I programs and customers.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and review calculations and assumptions to estimate energy savings.
  • Develop and review technical reports summarizing project scope, calculation methodologies, key assumptions, and recommendations.
  • Perform facility utility analysis, energy balancing, and benchmarking.
  • Conduct ASHRAE Level II and III audits for universities, schools, hospitals, multifamily, and municipalities.
  • Deliver high‑quality reports and calculations requiring minimal internal review.
  • Manage multiple project schedules, budgets, and deliverables while meeting deadlines and client expectations.
  • Provide technical assistance to customers, contractors, and stakeholders including support with energy savings calculations and program requirements.
  • Deploy metering equipment and analyze large data sets to validate baseline and replacement equipment operation.
  • Conduct meetings, presentations, and respond to technical and program questions.
  • Stay informed about energy issues and industry trends through technical reading and participation in professional organizations.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with project engineers across the East Region and nationwide.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Energy). Other engineering disciplines considered.
  • 5-10 years experience with energy analysis, modeling, ASHRAE Level I‑III audits, and technical report writing.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC and energy systems, building science, and high‑performance design; mechanical systems experience preferred.
  • Experience in electrification and energy efficiency recommendations (heat pump installations, HVAC upgrades, controls, refrigeration systems).
  • Proficiency in developing calculations using spreadsheets or energy modeling applications (eQUEST, Trane, Energy Plus, etc.).
  • Knowledge of energy codes and standards (ASHRAE, IECC).
  • Exceptional project management, organizational, time‑management, and planning skills, handling multiple projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to present technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
  • Quick and eager learner of new material; holistic problem solver with technical and non‑technical components.
  • Problem‑solving ability with proactive, collaborative style that works well in teams.
  • Licenses, certifications, and accreditations a plus (Professional Engineer, Engineer in Training, Certified Energy Manager, Building Energy Modeling Professional).
  • Team‑oriented, hands‑on, highly skilled, adaptive, and client‑focused.

Compensation

USD $88,005.00 – USD $ per year. Compensation varies based on experience, education, skill level, geographic location, and other factors. Eligible for participation in the Company’s annual discretionary bonus program based on performance.
