About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and certified NJ Waste Water Collection Operator (minimum Class
2) to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation, inspection, and maintenance of our sewer collection systems, adhering to all regulatory and safety standards.
This role requires a licensed professional capable of managing daily operational tasks, troubleshooting alarms, preparing reports, and supporting facility and system calibrations to ensure ongoing compliance.
What You’ll Do- Maintain valid NJ Certified Operator Class 2 license.
- Record and monitor daily meter readings of discharge flow.
- Conduct daily site inspections to ensure system integrity and safety.
- Address all sewer alarms received via the control panel daily, troubleshooting and coordinating repairs promptly.
- Perform pump‑down activities to the water authority as required.
- Replace chart recorder paper to ensure continuous data logging.
- Manage holding tank levels, including off‑schedule pumping to prevent overflows.
- Oversee cooling tower blow‑down management, including weekend work as scheduled.
- Prepare quarterly reports for NJDEP regarding wastewater volumes.
- Serve as the primary contact for NJDEP compliance and correspondence.
- Conduct site holds reviews related to sewage integration.
- Oversee calibrations of monitoring equipment and instrumentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Ensure 24/7 access and alarm monitoring of pump stations.
- Coordinate and facilitate pump station preventive maintenance (PM) for three pump stations.
- Support and participate in scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities.
- Valid NJ Waste Water Collection Operator Class 2 license.
- Proven experience in wastewater collection systems, preferably in a municipal or industrial setting.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with experience addressing sewer alarms, pump station issues, and building system concerns.
- Knowledge of building maintenance systems including piping, HVAC, electrical systems, and general facility operations.
- Experience overseeing calibrations of monitoring and instrumentation equipment to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Ability to perform regular inspections, data entry, and report preparation.
- Willingness to work weekends and respond to emergency alarms as needed.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Strong understanding of building maintenance systems, including piping, HVAC, electrical, and basic facility infrastructure.
- Ability to troubleshoot and assist with building system issues related to HVAC, electrical, and piping.
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems that support wastewater and facility operations.
- Ability to work collaboratively with building maintenance personnel and vendors.
- Ability to perform site inspections, which include walking, standing, climbing, and working in confined or restrictive spaces.
- Ability to operate pumps, controls, and various maintenance equipment.

- Competitive salary ranging from $80,000 to $95,000 annually.
