This position offers the opportunity to direct impactful transportation infrastructure initiatives that enhance the safety, reliability, and longevity of bridge and roadway systems across the region. The selected professional will guide projects through every phase, from planning and design development to construction administration and final delivery. Typical assignments include bridge replacements, structural rehabilitations, transportation corridor improvements, waterfront facilities, and other complex infrastructure programs.
Working alongside a multidisciplinary team, this individual will play a key role in delivering innovative engineering solutions for state, county, and local agency clients.
- Lead the execution of bridge, roadway, and transportation infrastructure projects from initial planning through construction completion.
- Coordinate and manage teams comprised of structural, highway, traffic, environmental, geotechnical, and water resources specialists.
- Act as the principal liaison for clients, maintaining strong partnerships with transportation agencies, municipalities, county organizations, and NJDOT.
- Oversee project performance, including schedules, budgets, deliverables, quality standards, and risk management.
- Direct the preparation and review of engineering drawings, contract documents, technical analyses, design reports, and cost estimates.
- Provide technical oversight for structural and transportation engineering work while supporting innovative and practical design solutions.
- Ensure projects are developed in accordance with industry regulations, agency criteria, and applicable engineering standards.
- Support the professional growth of junior staff through mentoring, technical coaching, and project guidance.
- Assist with business development efforts, including proposal preparation, client engagement, and strategic pursuits.
- Conduct field evaluations, structural inspections, and site investigations when required.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering; advanced degree in Structural Engineering is a plus.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required;
New Jersey registration preferred or ability to obtain. - Minimum of 8 years of experience delivering bridge and transportation engineering projects.
- Demonstrated success leading complex infrastructure assignments and multidisciplinary teams.
- Working knowledge of bridge design methodologies and transportation engineering standards.
- Experience utilizing structural analysis and bridge design software platforms such as CSiBridge, MIDAS, LEAP Bridge, STAAD, LARSA, or comparable tools.
- Strong project leadership, communication, organizational, and client management abilities.
- Proven ability to balance multiple priorities while maintaining project quality and client satisfaction.
- Background supporting marketing, proposal development, and client relationship growth is beneficial.
- Extensive familiarity with NJDOT procedures, AASHTO guidelines, and transportation infrastructure design requirements.
- Prior experience managing large-scale roadway and transportation design programs.
- Track record of successfully coordinating projects involving multiple stakeholders and public agencies
