Overwatch Rush is a new top-down Hero shooter designed specifically for mobile, set in the Overwatch universe.

We are currently looking for a Senior Systems Designer (Meta) to work on Overwatch Rush for Blizzard.
As a Systems Designer (Matchmaking), you will own the design, tuning and evolution of matchmaking systems to ensure that the player experience across the entire lifecycle is engaging and retentive.
You will be partnering with other Designers, Product Managers, Developers and QA analysts to realise the above, validate the player experience, identify areas of improvement and continually optimize the game.

Responsibilities- Design and iterate on matchmaking systems for real-time PvP matches to deliver the intended experience, in terms of match quality, engagement, fairness and queue times.
- Maintain and iterate player skill rating models to track player skill with precision and adapt the same for an optimal experience across different player cohorts.
- Design solutions that engage players at every stage—from first-time players to top-tier competitors
- Tune and refine matchmaking across multiple factors: position in the player journey, skill, latency, mode ruleset, match experience and player behavior
- Clearly and concisely communicate the systems design, approach and requirements to team members and key stakeholders through documentation, presentations and visual tools to convey key concepts, mechanics and systems required.
- Work within a multidisciplinary team of designers (Gameplay, Modes, AI etc.), product managers, developers and QA to deliver the intended experience and key metrics.
- Use data, player feedback, and play testing to evaluate player behavior and matchmaking performance, identify improvements and address them deftly within the live game environment.
- Respond to emergent QA and design issues/problems in development and ensure these are addressed in line with feature goals and development timelines.
- Contribute to an active community of designers, giving and receiving feedback and helping each other improve their work and techniques.
- Experience in systems design with a focus on multiplayer or competitive gameplay
- Deep understanding of matchmaking and ranking systems (open Skill, MMR, ELO, True Skill, etc.)
- Ability to break down complex problems into clear, actionable solutions, recognize tradeoffs and balance multiple factors to deliver an optimal outcome.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into insights on player behaviour and experience, and drive meaningful design improvements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills. Able to clearly document game design concepts and articulate them succinctly to team members and stakeholders.
- Strong planning and organizational skills that allow you to establish and follow key critical initiatives.
- Comfortable working with designers and business performance professionals from a wide range of backgrounds.
- Excels in a collaborative and flexible environment where your role will evolve in line with the ongoing plans for development.
- Experience working on live service F2P games with ongoing system iteration.
- Understanding of player behavior, retention mechanics, and game economies.
- Technical fluency that enables effective collaboration with engineers.
