LHH Recruitment Solutions is assisting our Bergen County, NJ client in their search for a Senior Accountant. This is a permanent position with benefits and will require the Senior Accountant to report onsite five days per week.
Position OverviewThis role partners closely with the Controller to ensure the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of the organization’s accounting and financial reporting activities. The position plays a key part in regulatory compliance, financial close processes, internal controls, and audit coordination, while also supporting operational financial analysis.
Key Responsibilities- Partner with the Controller to apply and uphold accounting and reporting frameworks
- Assist in meeting all regulatory filing obligations at the local, state, and federal levels, including tax filings, government reporting submissions, notices, and payment coordination. Support the review of business tax returns and related planning strategies.
- Contribute to the monthly close cycle by ensuring financial transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with U.S. GAAP or IFRS. Analyze financial results and investigate variances to support accurate reporting.
- Ensure strict adherence to recurring reporting timelines, including weekly, mid-cycle, month-end, semi-annual, and annual deliverables.
- Support general ledger close procedures, including accrual calculations, journal entry preparation and review, account reconciliations, and analytical review of balances.
- Collaborate in the preparation and detailed review of balance sheet and income statement reconciliations.
- Provide ongoing analytical and operational support to the Controller across accounting and reporting functions.
- Coordinate with external audit teams by compiling requested documentation and facilitating the audit process.
- Evaluate and enhance accounting policies and internal procedures to maintain strong internal controls and compliance with SOX requirements.
- Work cross-functionally with operations to assess and interpret manufacturing cost variances.
- Carry out additional assignments and special projects as directed by management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required.
- CPA required
- 3+ years of progressive experience in financial reporting and taxation.
- Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and IFRS standards.
- Experience working with a larger ERP system
- Advanced Excel capabilities (pivot tables, VLOOKUP's, advanced formulas, macros)
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial statement preparation.
- Exposure to audits, reviews, and compilations preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work output.
Salary Range: $80k-$100k
