Role OverviewThe CAT Pricing Lead is an actuarial leader responsible for shaping and executing catastrophe pricing strategy across the Global Commercial Property portfolio. The role sits at the intersection of actuarial pricing, catastrophe modeling and portfolio management, partnering closely with underwriting, exposure management and reinsurance teams to integrate catastrophe risk insights into pricing decisions and ensure alignment with business strategy, risk appetite and profitability objectives.
Key Responsibilities CAT Pricing Strategy & Ownership- Lead the development and execution of catastrophe pricing strategy across key perils (e.g., hurricane, earthquake, wildfire, flood) globally.
- Design and implement the “next generation” pricing framework incorporating model outputs, climate insights and portfolio considerations.
- Ensure pricing reflects risk‑adjusted returns, market conditions and underwriting objectives.
- Translate catastrophe model outputs (e.g., RMS, AIR) into actionable pricing metrics and underwriting guidance.
- Oversee CAT load development, technical pricing assumptions and pricing segmentation.
- Drive enhancements in data, modeling techniques and pricing tools.
- Partner with underwriting and exposure management to monitor CAT accumulation and portfolio risk.
- Lead analysis of rate adequacy, profitability and CAT return metrics.
- Support portfolio optimisation decisions (limits, attachment points, deductibles, sublimits).
- Provide pricing insights and recommendations to underwriting leadership to support deal‑level decisions.
- Act as a trusted advisor on CAT risk, pricing and portfolio trade‑offs.
- Collaborate across functions including underwriting, reinsurance pricing, reserving and CAT modeling.
- Support annual reinsurance placement and planning by providing CAT pricing and portfolio analytics.
- Contribute to capital allocation and risk appetite discussions.
- Manage and develop a team of actuaries and analysts focused on CAT pricing.
- Foster a high‑performance culture with strong technical expertise and business alignment.
- Mentor talent across actuarial and catastrophe functions.
- Improve speed‑to‑market and pricing efficiency through partnerships with technology and insurtech providers.
- Lead the modernisation of pricing platforms and CAT pricing capabilities.
- 10+ years of actuarial experience in property pricing.
- Deep expertise in catastrophe modelling platforms (e.g., RMS, AIR) and CAT risk concepts.
- Proven experience integrating CAT modelling into pricing and portfolio decisions.
- Strong leadership experience managing actuarial or analytics teams.
- Advanced proficiency in analytics tools (SQL, Python/R preferred).
- Experience working cross‑functionally with underwriting, exposure management and reinsurance teams.
- Strategic thinking with ability to translate analytics into business action.
- Strong communication skills—able to convey complex CAT/pricing concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
- Expertise in portfolio management, risk‑return optimisation and pricing governance.
- Ability to operate in a fast‑paced, evolving environment with competing priorities.
The base salary range for this position is $–$275,000 annually.
