Lead Business Insights Specialist
The Lead Business Insights Specialist acts as an advisor to business leaders and stakeholders. This role provides comprehensive analytical support, interpretation of complex data, BI or analytics outcomes to generate multidimensional insights that drive business growth and value. This role works in partnership with business leaders to present or generate appropriate insights including the delivery of supporting collateral and/or presentations.
Depth & Scope:
- Generally accountable for a significant business or area that has cross business or enterprise-wide impact or accountability
- Enterprise domain/functional and deep specialized knowledge at the enterprise, business, regulatory and industry levels
- Undertakes and completes a variety of complex initiatives requiring seasoned specialist knowledge and/or the integration of cross functional processes
- Typically deals with senior/executive management
- Focuses on longer-range planning for functional area (e.g. 12 months or greater)
- May manage and prioritize multiple projects at a given time
- May interact with any hierarchy level up to executive leaders and external vendors
Additional Information:
As a top leader within the Credit Risk Analytics risk management department, this role serves as a subject matter expert for portfolio-defined work streams (retail and non-retail) within the quarterly Expected Credit Loss (ECL) and Provision for Credit Loss (PCL) allowance calculation processes. You will actively participate as an expert advisor to Credit Risk executives and process partners driving the strategy, design, enhancement, and execution of the quarterly IFRS9 and CECL credit allowance models.
The position also actively participates in projects and initiatives (concept through delivery), ensuring changes are executed completely, in accordance with regulatory expectation, and understanding of business impacts.
Working closely with senior leadership, key stakeholders, business partners, and cross functional teams, the role ensures an integrated, coordinated, and forward looking approach to the quarterly credit allowance process. Success requires credit knowledge, regulatory expectation understanding, ability to built and maintain relationships, critical thinking and the ability to make judgement decisions in a fast paced, time sensitive environment.
Education & Experience:
- Undergraduate degree or advanced technical degree preferred (e.g., math, physics, engineering, finance or computer science) Graduate's degree preferred with either progressive project work experience, or;
- 7+ year of relevant experience; higher degree education and research tenure can be counted
Preferred Qualifications:
- Self-led individual able to manage multiple initiatives of varying risk, timeframe, and coordination.
- Ability to learn, research and report on data issues using existing Bank software (i.e., Alteryx, Excel, etc.).
- Foundational knowledge of loan lifecycle, specifically the adjudication, risk ratings, categorization/classifications, and reserve process.
