VP, Head of Actuarial Reserving Governance

DW Simpson seeks a VP, Head of Actuarial Reserving Governance to lead reserving oversight for insurance and reinsurance clients. In this high-impact leadership role, you will design and enhance governance frameworks, set reserving standards, and ensure consistency, accuracy, and regulatory compliance across lines of business. Partner closely with actuarial, finance, and risk leaders to review methodologies, challenge assumptions, and improve controls and documentation.

You will mentor actuarial teams, lead strategic reserving initiatives, support audits and regulatory reviews, and communicate findings and recommendations to senior executive stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and implementation of actuarial reserving governance frameworks for insurance clients
• Establish and maintain reserving policies, standards, and controls across lines of business
• Review and challenge actuarial assumptions, methodologies, and results
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and accounting requirements for reserves
• Coordinate with finance, risk, and audit teams on reserving-related issues
• Prepare and present reserving findings and recommendations to senior executives and boards
• Support internal and external audits, regulatory reviews, and model validations
• Mentor and develop actuarial staff involved in reserving and governance
• Drive continuous improvement in reserving processes, documentation, and controls
• Monitor industry trends and best practices in reserving and governance
