KPMG is currently seeking a Director, Tax Research and Planning to join our Firm Tax team.
Responsibilities:- Lead and oversee tax research and analysis related to the preparation of individual federal and state tax returns and partnership schedule K-1s, providing strategic direction to Partner Tax Services and Partner Tax Matters group in the preparation of federal and state tax returns
- Proactively monitor federal and state legislative developments; drive the development of models to assess the potential impact of proposed tax changes and identify strategic tax-savings opportunities for the firm and its partners
- Independently collaborate with firm experts and Partner-In-Charge of Firm Taxes to resolve various federal and state issues to ensure compliance with all tax regulations and deadlines and ensure document tax research positions
- Lead internal training sessions and develop content to effectively communicate tax technical positions to members of cross-functional groups within Firm Taxes
- Cultivate a high-performing culture by actively mentoring tax professionals and fostering deep expertise in partnership and individual taxation
- Act with integrity, professionalism, and personal responsibility to uphold KPMG's respectful and courteous work environment
- Minimum ten years of recent federal and state individual tax experience with in-depth knowledge of partnership federal and state schedule K-1s
- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in tax or accounting is preferred; minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in accounting or finance is required; enrolled Agent or CPA preferred
- Proficient in tax research software such as Westlaw, Bloomberg, and CCH
- Computer proficiencies in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Word required;
Microsoft Excel skills include creating spreadsheets, using shortcuts, formula functions, sorting/filtering data, and analyzing data;
PowerPoint skills include creating charts, layouts and analysis to support tax planning opportunities - High net worth individual tax experience preferred
- Detailed-oriented and collaborative-minded professional with a proactive approach to problem-solving
