Population 13,500, 5,342-line items seeking a Part-Time Tax Assessor to perform statutory duties related to the valuation of real property for local taxation purposes. Responsibilities (N.J.S.A. 54:4.1 et seq.) include maintaining accurate assessment records, preparing & certifying the annual tax list, reviewing property changes, responding to taxpayer inquiries, and representing the Township before the Hunterdon County Board of Taxation and, as necessary, the New Jersey Tax Court.
This position may be filled by a part-time individual or may be done as a shared service, depending on the needs of the Township and the qualifications of the selected candidate. Applicants must possess a Certified Tax Assessor (CTA) license issued by the State and have practical working knowledge of New Jersey property tax laws and regulations. At least 5 years prior municipal experience is required and experience with farmland assessments preferred.
Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications (DOQE) within a salary range of $25,000 – $45,000 per annum. The work schedule will be coordinated with the Township Administrator.
