Part Time Assistant Land Use Officer

Non-Exempt, Part Time

Job Summary:

Support the Planning and Zoning Department by performing permit and plan review and conducting inspections to ensure compliance with zoning regulations. General administrative duties and substantial correspondence and interaction with colleagues, the public, and professionals.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 software with the desire and ability to learn additional computer programs.
Knowledge of SDL software.
Ability to work with the public in a professional, polite, and accommodating manner.
Ability to work as part of a cohesive team.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Education, Experience and License:

High school diploma or equivalent. College degree preferred.
Two (2) years of experience in the preparation and revision of building construction plans or specifications or inspection/enforcement of zoning and/or construction regulations
Possession of a valid NJ zoning official certification
Possession of a valid NJ State Driver’s License
$23.00 - $28.00 per hour.

Additional Information:

The desired schedule for this part-time position is Monday through Friday, not to exceed 28 hours per week. While a consistent weekday schedule is preferred, some flexibility may be considered for the right candidate.
