Master Stylist

Overview

We are seeking a Master Stylist at Ulta Beauty. This role focuses on engaging with guests, consulting on hair care needs, and recommending products and services to deliver quality professional services with an emphasis on the guest’s total look. The Master Stylist supports the Experience Manager (SM) and Assistant Services Manager (ASM) through a focus on performance (service sales and productivity), people (guest service), and process (operating procedures and compliance standards).

A passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and the ability to learn and communicate product knowledge are required.

The Master Stylist is responsible for guest consultations, performing hair services, and delivering an exceptional guest experience. This position emphasizes service sales, guest service, and adherence to Ulta Beauty’s policies and procedures.

• Perform hair services including hair design, haircuts, color, texture, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, and ear piercing where applicable.
• Meet or exceed an average weekly sales goal of $1250 for hair services and contribute to store goals related to retail and service sales, guest loyalty, and retail shrink.
• Demonstrate products with guests to drive sales and enhance the guest service experience.
• Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives to deliver an exceptional guest experience.
• Stay informed about new and existing industry trends, products, and services; be knowledgeable about ingredients and benefits to better serve guests.
• Maintain prompt, regular attendance.

• Develop guest relationships through consultations and appropriate product/service recommendations.
• Serve all guests, including walk-ins, in a timely and efficient manner.
• Partner with skin therapists and the retail team to provide a total-store guest experience.
• Establish professional relationships with peers and brand partners to collaboratively deliver an exceptional guest experience.
• Share the benefits of the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app, with guests.
• Attend mandatory trainings and meetings for continuous professional development.

• Be knowledgeable of and ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards.
• Follow safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures and comply with state board guidelines.
• Follow established service protocols to ensure a consistent and exceptional guest experience.
• Use booking and clientele systems to schedule return services and events.
• Communicate supply needs to the Experience Manager to ensure guest readiness.
• Maintain store operational standards, including salon, salesfloor, restrooms, backroom, and break areas.
• Adhere to the Ulta Beauty dress code.
• Protect company assets by following loss prevention practices and delivering excellent guest service.
• Execute other operational tasks as directed.

• Cosmetology license

• Previous relevant work experience is required

• Proficiency with latest salon techniques for hair services and/or aptitude to develop skills in all service categories.
• Proficiency with equipment and chemicals used in technical work.
• Ability to demonstrate, recommend, and sell pro hair care and makeup products.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships and clientele.

• Work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
