This apprenticeship guides you toward becoming a Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)‑Certified Pharmacy Technician and helps you maintain the high level of skill required in the pharmacy care industry.

$16.50/hr - $20.00/hr

• Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
• Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
• Model and share customer service best practices with all team members.
• Develop strong relationships with our most valuable customers.

• Assist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision of the pharmacist and in accordance with state, federal, and company policy.
• Utilize pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, fill prescriptions, and verify medicine accuracy.
• Assist pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow and report prescription errors immediately.
• Adhere to the Walgreens Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during all applicable prescription dispensing activities.
• Register all related sales on assigned cash register, handle cash, and assist customers with over‑the‑counter products.
• Handle telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist, including those to physicians.
• Process manual claims for third‑party prescription services in a timely and efficient manner.
• Assist in inventory management activities such as ordering, unpacking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments.
• Assist pharmacists in administering clinical services when required, including collection and labeling of samples.
• Help maintain a clean, orderly pharmacy department and support teamwork.
• Complete any special assignments or tasks assigned by the Pharmacy Manager.

• Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program and/or state‑required certification/registration.
• Attend training requested by the manager and acquire continuing education credits.
• Maintain knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including the latest news and developments.

• Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

• Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens.
• Prefer good math skills for accurate prescription filling.
• Prefer good computer skills.
• Prefer knowledge of store inventory control.
• Prefer PTCB certification.
