Position

Summary

The Medical Receptionist provides reception and clerical services under the supervision of the practice manager and physician(s). Responsibilities include billing, collections, referrals, appointments, patient contact, and general secretarial duties. The role requires willingness to travel within 30 minutes of home and to float to various locations.

Responsibilities
  • Receives and directs all communication courteously and consistently, adhering to HIPAA guidelines and office policy.
  • Greets patients and visitors promptly, courteously and helpfully.
  • Assists patients with the sign‑in process and responds promptly to needs.
  • Supports financial responsibilities: staying abreast of reimbursement and billing procedures, accurately verifying information on the Audit Journal, preparing bank deposits and credit card batches, and signing and dating daily cash receipts.
  • Monitors general office supply inventory and equipment, notifying Practice Manager when supplies are low and initiating orders.
  • Manages patient check‑in: obtains and verifies required demographic information, collects copayments, verifies insurance eligibility, ensures referrals, completes paperwork, and enters information into the billing/computer system.
  • Manages patient check‑out: reviews charge slip, posts charges and payments, collects balances, and schedules future appointments.
  • Promotes patient satisfaction by providing excellent service and communicating potential issues to the manager.
  • Maintains efficient and accurate filing and record‑maintenance system.
  • Assembles new patient folders, retrieves and returns records per protocol.
  • Adapts work schedule to meet practice needs, works additional hours as requested, volunteers to cross‑cover, and manages time to prevent unapproved overtime.
  • Serves as a pre‑loader for the EMR system.
  • Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Qualifications – Required
  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent program.
  • Ability to learn quickly, adapt to changing patient needs, strong sense of accountability, focus on teamwork, dedication to ongoing education, and passion to deliver high‑quality care.
  • Must be able to travel to various locations.
Qualifications – Preferred
  • Prior receptionist or clerical experience in a medical office.
  • Epic system experience.
  • CPR certification.
Compensation

Minimum rate of $18.36 hourly. This post provides a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay for the role.
