Microbiology Lab Technician

We are seeking a dedicated Microbiology Lab Technician to join our team. This role involves environmental monitoring, utilizing aseptic techniques, and using Vitech instruments in a laboratory setting. You will perform air monitoring, swabbing, and other essential tasks to ensure the quality and safety of our products, primarily nutraceuticals and some pharmaceuticals. Your responsibilities will also include managing multiple lots of the same product, documenting results accurately, and supporting lab maintenance.

• Conduct environmental monitoring once a week for 4-5 hours, which is physically demanding.
• Utilize aseptic techniques in daily operations.
• Operate Vitech instruments in the laboratory.
• Perform air monitoring across all buildings and complete contact plates through swabbing.
• Weigh products, streak plates, and handle pathogenic bacteria such as salmonella and listeria.
• Test raw materials, finished products, water samples, and products from the innovation center.
• Manage multiple lots of the same product and communicate progress and results with the team lead.
• Accurately document results in the LIMS (Lions system) and maintain GMP-compliant lab notebooks.
• Support laboratory maintenance, including balance checks and fridge/freezer monitoring.
• Assist with testing samples received from other global sites.

• BS in Biology or life science with a minor in biology.
• At least 1 year of professional laboratory experience in microbiology in industries such as pharma, biotech, etc.
• Strong knowledge of basic microbiology principles.
• Experience with microbiology laboratory techniques, plating, microbial analysis, and aseptic techniques.

• GMP experience is a plus.
• Experience with SAP, Lion, Trackwise preferred but not required.
• Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.

The role is based in a non-branded production and testing facility focused on nutraceutical products. You will be part of a team that supports cross-functional teams and focuses on physical property and finished product testing. The work is conducted in an open campus facility consisting of five different buildings, with amenities like an onsite cafeteria and lounge. The work schedule is generally 9-5 with the possibility of weekend work once fully trained.

This is a Contract position based out of Belvidere, NJ.

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $32.00/hr.
