Job Description
The Ambulatory Certified Respiratory Therapist is responsible for performing all associated lab tests that are ordered by the physician(s) or provider(s). The Respiratory Therapist will perform tests and/or obtain samples in the office setting. This position additionally will perform all necessary quality control and maintain supplies and inventory for the pulmonary lab as needed. This position delivers a remarkable patient experience by providing compassion, understanding and empathy, while also providing the patient care needed in the pulmonary laboratory.
This position also performs pulmonary testing, maintains regulatory compliance, and records quality assurance record keeping. The Therapist may also be required to perform minor housekeeping, preventive maintenance of equipment and minor coverage in the absence of the Medical Assistant as needed. This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.
EDUCATION:
Graduate of a school of respiratory care.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:
Licensed by the State Board of Respiratory Care and must be Certified Respiratory Therapist required. Current BLS required.
EXPERIENCE:
Prior experience preferred but not required. Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS Demonstrates the ability to perform the department specific competencies as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.
WORK ENVIRONMENT Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, blood-borne pathogens, hazardous substances, and potential injury. Position requires extensive standing and walking and the ability to move patients utilizing good body mechanics. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hand and talk or hear.
Position requires frequent pushing and pulling of equipment weighting up to 20 lbs. 25lbs -- 40lbs would require assistance. Must be able to handle stressful emergency situations effectively. Must have the ability to distinguish colors. Essential functions of this position are listed on the department specific Assessment and Evaluation Tool.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP This position reports to department leadership.
