Location: Cedar Grove

Oak Street Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support our primary care operations for older adults on Medicare. The role focuses on gathering accurate medical information, providing clinical support, and ensuring a seamless patient experience.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure efficient patient flow: room patients, record vital signs, complete required screenings, and conduct medication reviews.
  • Maintain exam room supplies and inventory, and respond to telephonic patient requests (e.g., lab results, faxing records).
  • Administer vaccinations and perform point‑of‑care tests as permitted by state regulations, including A1C, spirometry, EKGs, and blood draws.
  • Import required documents into the electronic medical record (EMR) via scanning or PDF upload.
  • Participate in care team meetings to discuss patient care and clinic operations.
  • Process orders for durable medical equipment and request external medical records as needed.
  • Conduct routine quality‑control checks, including infection control, equipment, and medication/supply expiration monitoring.
  • Assist with center lab maintenance and other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • State or national certification (or graduation from an accredited medical assistant course).
  • At least one year of experience as a medical assistant.
  • CPR or BLS certification.
  • Experience with an electronic medical record system.
  • Proficient computer skills:
    Gmail, MS Word or Google Docs, Excel or Google Sheets, and other common programs.
  • Proficiency in a non‑English language required by the center’s demographics.
  • Valid US work authorization.

  • Minimum of three years in a medical assistant role.
  • Demonstrated mastery of MA workflow in a prior position.
  • Desire for expanded responsibilities, greater clinical experience, and an impact on patient lives.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two or more years of experience working with geriatric patients.
  • Phlebotomy Technician certification.

Pay range: $18.50–$31.72 per hour, based on experience and education, with eligibility for bonus, commission, or short‑term incentive programs.
