Two (2) Years

Working Hours:

35 hours per week

Work Type: 100% Onsite (Correctional Facility)

The Psychologist (Doctoral Level) provides comprehensive psychological services to individuals housed. This role focuses on psychological evaluations, diagnostic assessments, treatment planning, and therapeutic interventions to support inmate mental health and institutional safety. The Psychologist will collaborate closely with psychiatric providers, social workers, medical staff, and correctional personnel to ensure coordinated, compliant, and effective mental health care delivery within a secure correctional environment.

Key Responsibilities Psychological Assessment & Evaluation
  • Conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations and diagnostic assessments.
  • Perform risk assessments, mental status examinations, and clinical interviews.
  • Develop evidence-based diagnostic impressions and treatment recommendations.
Treatment & Clinical Services
  • Provide individual therapeutic services as clinically indicated.
  • Support treatment planning for individuals with serious mental illness.
  • Assist in crisis intervention and behavioral management strategies.
Care Coordination & Collaboration
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, social workers, nursing staff, and custody personnel.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings and case reviews.
  • Support continuity of care planning in coordination with mental health staff.
Documentation & Compliance
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and legally compliant clinical documentation.
  • Ensure services comply with NJ regulations, correctional healthcare standards, and professional ethics.
  • Participate in audits, reviews, and quality assurance activities as required.
Required Qualifications

Education:

Doctoral Degree in Psychology (PhD or PsyD)

– Required

Licensure:
Active and Unrestricted New Jersey Psychologist License

– Required

Experience
  • Experience conducting:
    • Psychological evaluations and assessments
    • Diagnostic formulation and treatment planning
    • Clinical services in correctional or institutional environments (preferred)
