Summary:
Rutgers University Correctional Health Care is seeking a Per Diem Technician I. The Technician I participates as a member of the clinical and administrative medical team at the Prison.
- Take vital signs, height and weight and document in electronic medical records (EMR).
- Assist the physician/associate practitioner with procedures, including preparing the inmate for examination.
- Obtain specimen collection and handling, including drawing blood.
- Assist with cleaning, sterilization and securing of equipment within the Health Service Unit.
- Maintain or assist in maintaining the supply stock in the Health Service Unit and in the examination rooms.
- Aggregate medication orders and forward them to the pharmacy provider / local pharmacy.
- Valid Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification required.
- At least two (2) years progressively more responsible related healthcare experience involving multiple areas of knowledge, skill, and abilities, and demonstrating competencies to perform the essential duties of the position.
- CPR certification.
- Valid Driver’s License; must possess own vehicle or alternative means of transportation.

Work Shift:
Rotating. Full onsite work arrangement required.
Physical Demands:
Ability to perform CPR for at least 10 minutes and assist in lifting and rotating patients who are unable to ambulate (up to 50 pounds).
Special Conditions:
Must be approved by the Department of Corrections and adhere to all DOC requirements.
