Position Overview

Mend Force Physical Therapy is seeking a dedicated and passionate Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our dynamic team in Plainsboro, New Jersey. As a full-time PTA, you will play a critical role in the rehabilitation of patients recovering from surgeries, injuries, and other physical impairments in a hospital setting. Your primary responsibility will involve assisting licensed physical therapists in implementing tailored therapy programs aimed at enhancing patients' mobility and functionality.

The work environment is fast-paced and collaborative, dedicated to both patient recovery and professional growth. You'll find yourself working alongside seasoned physical therapists, nursing staff, and various healthcare professionals committed to delivering coordinated care. Being onsite, you'll have direct patient interactions, providing a hands-on approach that allows you to observe and influence patient progress continuously.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in implementing individualized therapy programs created by the supervising physical therapists to enhance patients' mobility, strength, and overall functional performance.
  • Administer therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, and advanced modalities such as ultrasound and electrical stimulation under the supervision of licensed physical therapists.
  • Utilize an electronic medical records (EMR) system to accurately document each patient's treatment sessions, capturing responses and tracking progress over time.
  • Educate patients on proper body mechanics, exercises to be performed at home, and ways to increase their safety and performance between therapy sessions.
  • Collaborate effectively with physical therapists, nursing staff, physicians, and administrative personnel to ensure efficient patient flow and comprehensive care coordination.
  • Monitor patient progress meticulously, adjusting treatment plans as needed based on ongoing evaluations and reporting any significant changes to the healthcare team.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on patients recovering from orthopedic surgeries, traumatic injuries, and chronic pain conditions. This patient demographic frequently requires intensive rehabilitation planning tailored to their specific recovery journeys. You will empower patients by guiding them through their rehabilitation processes, which may involve therapeutic exercises, gait training, and functional activities. Your goal is to help every patient achieve their highest possible level of independence and quality of life.

Qualifications
  • Education:

    Associate's Degree from a CAPTE-accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program is required.
  • Licensure:
    Current, valid Physical Therapist Assistant license in New Jersey is mandatory.
  • Certifications:

    CPR certification is required or must be obtained before starting work.
  • Skills:

    Strong interpersonal communication, time management skills, adaptability, and a collaborative approach to patient care.
Preferred Experience
  • A minimum of two years experience in an outpatient or inpatient rehabilitation setting is preferred, although new graduates with strong clinical rotations are encouraged to apply.
  • Previous experience in orthopedics and familiarity with electronic medical record systems are highly desirable.
Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $60,000 - $75,000 annually , commensurate with experience and qualifications.
