The Health Services Administrator (HSA) is responsible for overseeing and managing the daily healthcare operations within the Mercer County Correction Center. This role ensures that inmate medical and mental health services are delivered efficiently, compliantly, and in alignment with County, State, and regulatory standards. The HSA serves as the primary administrative liaison between healthcare vendor staff and County officials, ensuring proper staffing, reporting, budgeting oversight, and operational compliance within a secure correctional environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesHealthcare Operations Management
- Oversee daily healthcare operations within the correctional facility.
- Ensure medical, mental health, and support services are delivered in accordance with contract requirements.
- Monitor service delivery to ensure quality, efficiency, and compliance.
Staffing & Administration
- Manage healthcare staffing schedules, coverage, and coordination.
- Support onboarding, credential tracking, and staffing compliance.
- Coordinate with clinical leadership to ensure adequate coverage.
Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure compliance with:
- New Jersey correctional healthcare standards
- County policies and procedures
- Applicable federal and state regulations
- Prepare and submit required operational, compliance, and performance reports.
- Support audits, inspections, and corrective action plans.
Financial & Resource Oversight
- Monitor healthcare-related costs and resource utilization.
- Assist with budget tracking and cost control measures.
- Ensure efficient use of healthcare resources.
Coordination & Liaison
- Serve as the primary point of contact between:
- Vendor healthcare staff
- County officials
- Correctional facility administration
- Facilitate communication and issue resolution across stakeholders.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in:
- Healthcare Administration
- Public Administration
- Business Administration
- Or a related field (Required)
Experience
- Experience managing correctional or institutional healthcare operations
- Experience with:
- Staffing coordination
- Operational reporting
- Regulatory compliance
- Healthcare administration in secure environments
- Healthcare operations management
- Correctional or institutional administration
- Regulatory compliance and reporting
- Staff coordination and scheduling
- Cost monitoring and operational oversight
- Strong communication and organizational skills
